Glitter, rock stars, hot chicks, & hookers… I LUV LUV LUV THIS ARTIST. With collections with names such as “Hooker Safari” & “Powder Room” I just HAD to find out more about Natalia.
Natalia Fabia is of Polish descent and was raised in Southern California where she graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Inspired by light, color, punk rock music, hot chicks and sparkles, Fabia is fascinated with “hookers”, which fuels her paintings of sultry women.
In Fabia’s words, “Punk rock is one of my true loves. Punk to me is an attitude, a lifestyle. Punk is a middle finger, punk is do-it-yourself, do what you want. It’s a kind of freedom. I’m attracted to my subjects for having that quality. This attitude is what I wanted to convey in this series. My models (many of which are friends) are all tough, independent, strong, fun, hard working, talented, tattooed and stylishly dressed. I look at punk rock as being dirty and rough, yet sparkly and enticing at the same time, and that’s the theme of my paintings.”
Her paintings are mostly oil-based & feature glamorous, tattooed models, pin-up & burlesque in style, arranged in intricately detailed settings.
She has an exhibit, “Punk Rock Rainbow Sparkle,” running in NYC until February 11, 2012. Check it out at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. It’s her first solo exhibition in New York.
Here are some recent pieces from Natalia Fabia:
Green Hell Princesses

Sparkle Party at Black and White

Here are sunglasses designers Coco & Breezy standing next to a painting that Natalia did of them. It’s freaky how real the paintings look.
